I'm throwing my mum a surprise 40th birthday party and the theme is Mardi Gras. I have no clue what to do about the food! I've looked at mardi gras recipies but it all looks so hard and not very party-ish ahah and i dont think many people will like some of the food. I've decided to make a King Cake but thats about all i've got. What should i do?!
you should be able to buy a king cake. They sell them in every store around here.
really mardi gras isn't hard at all...You can buy boudain at wal-mart...that's a stuffing sausage looking food. It's sort of a grey, because it has rice in it...It's good warmed in oven or cooked in microwave...You go to the boxed meals at the store and they usually have like zaterain's dirty rice, that's new orleans...or just fix hamburger with a lot of pepper and onions in a skillet add rice and call it dirty rice...
jambalya I think comes in a mix, just add sausage.
gumbo, you can buy in a mix and it tells you how to fix it...chicken gumbo is good. You basically make a roux or gravy in a skillet and you can buy a jar of roux and it tells you how to make it,but not as good as homemade.then add onions, peppers, chicken, let simmer till all good...then serve over rice...basically anything served over rice is cajun or mardi gras.
decorate with purple, gold, colors.wear mask or costumes.
It's really not hard...You can make a tray of deviled eggs and maybe tint the egg yolk mixture a pretty purple, not too much.Just whatever you serve.put it on pretty purple or gold trays and no one will know or care what they are eating...serve pork rhines.or even chicken wings. You could have shrimp on a stick. or anything really with seafood.Crab dip.have fun and good luck!
These picks are a great fit for Mardi Gras or other festivals. The picks are made of thin plastic and are flat. Add something special to your cupcakes.
